The Long March 5B rocket took off from the Wenchang Space Center in Hainan on Monday (October 31st) and delivered the third and final module, named Mengtian, to China’s Tiangong space station. Most rocket stages land with their engines burning to distract them from crowded areas, but not from Long March 5B. The Chinese space agency did not take this precaution with its heavy launch vehicle, leaving it largely to chance as to where it might land.

Therefore, it now remains to guess where the main step may fall. As in previous cases, the Orbital Reentry and Debris Research Center (CORDS) monitors the object and provides regular updates. According to the company’s initial forecast, an uncontrolled re-entry will take place on Friday, November 4 at 2:21 PM Moscow time. A possible domain will be known a few minutes before it re-enters the atmosphere.
