Hackers attempted to steal customer data from the Whoosh scooter rental service. The security service launched an internal investigation and stopped the leak, but the hackers still gained access to some data.
The company’s press service spoke about the prevention of the leak of personal data of users of the Whoosh scooter rental service. The probability of a leak appeared due to a violation of safety rules by a service employee, he was already fired.
The attack was carried out by an organized group of hackers. They gained access to some of the data of millions of Whoosh users: a phone number, an email address, a nickname, an incomplete bank card number.
“The breach did not affect sensitive user data, such as account access, transaction information or travel details,” Whoosh said.
The company launched an internal investigation into the incident and was about to contact law enforcement agencies.
