Researchers from the University of Science and Technology, owned by the developer company Abdullah (UAE), have described a prototype window glass capable of using a communication system on a sunny day. The fact is that the light of our star rises as a wearable signal and can transmit. The technology still has many shortcomings, but they are already partially replacing the usual Wi-Fi.

At the heart of the design of “smart glass” are dual-core liquid crystal shutters. These devices change the polarity of the light passing through them, which can be interpreted as switching between positions “0” and “1” in binary code. the number of polarity switching events can be encoded from public information and transmitted to a receiver that receives light that has passed through such glass. For example, within an office or between adjacent buildings.

Polarity switching happens very quickly, while other characteristics of light perception do not change, so for a person the eyes do not notice anything, although the smartphone camera easily captures these sensations. These technologies compare favorably with data transmission systems based on artificial light sources, which irritate the eye flicker during operation. Not that this is the case, do not be too lazy to put a 5-20 watt power supply into the bullet through a Wi-Fi route.

The minus of the technology is obvious – it works only during the day and in clear weather, but in the presence of such solar energy, the panel does not require energy at all. Alas, the data transfer rate does not yet exceed 16 bt / s, however, it can be used in desert regions as auxiliary lines energy.
