You need to prepare for the New Year in advance, so back in October I started looking on the Chinese marketplace for something that would surprise everyone at the New Year’s party.
I came across a novelty that is modest about meetings “interactive LED mask“. It costs 2235 rubles, there were few reviews, but I liked the very idea that instead of a face there could be some kind of dynamic “muzzle”. So, hiding the toad away, I ordered one for myself.
And I didn’t guess. The mask arrived just in time for the last Halloween party I was invited to, and it was a real hit. Everyone who showed up in regular costumes looked enviously at mine, who took only this mask and a black hoodie with a hood.
So now I’ll tell you about it in detail, and you order one for yourself – it will come by the new year and you will use the advanced ones at any costume party.
Well made, lasts a long time
The interactive mask comes in a cardboard box, inside the mask and a short USB-C charging cable. The mask itself is made of matte plastic, there is a transparent protective layer on the side of the LED screen.
On the outside, there are rubberized “eyepieces” for the eyes to see around, and a wide, strong elastic band with Velcro selection adjustment to fit the gadget to a particular head.
At the end of the mask, you can find several separate elements and USB-C connectors for charging the built-in battery.
There are two types of such masks on AliExpress: with a battery and with replaceable batteries. I managed to pick up a rechargeable version, but the batteries are just as good.
There is also a small motion sensor in the upper part, which I will talk about separately. With it, you can change the “faces” on the mask screen with a wave of your palm, but there are nuances in the operation of this feature.
Manage and find application use cases on your smartphone. It can be downloaded for free in the App Store and Google Play, and it works without stealth connected. So you can see for yourself if you have enough collections of different “faces” right now.

The Shining Mask app has several sections. The main one offers a choice of 45 moving images and 70 static ones. The choice of the game, you can choose the appropriate “face” for any thematic party.
There is also a section where you can create a ticker, like I have on the title gif, and edit it by changing the color of the letter and the background.
The mode of using the running line, the equalizer mode and the ability to switch “faces” with a wave of the hand.
The “Do It Yourself” section suggests the possibility of uploading new images of images that will be displayed on the mask. You can download strictly 20 pieces.
The last section activates the equalizer on the mask screen, if you have access to the smartphone’s microphone, the equalizer will interact with the surrounding sounds using data from the microphone.

Additionally, you can configure the switching of “faces” with a wave of your hand in front of the mask. To do this, you need to activate the corresponding item, in which they launch and select a set of pictures that switch between themselves from the built-in library.
All this is justified and does not raise questions. Especially in the first hours, while you understand and try all the modes. In general, the mask is ready to play out of the box.
However, I personally did not catch the following features in this application:
● it is not possible to create a section of favorite masks
● Images of the peoples of the world can only be downloaded statistical
● When selecting an image for hand wave transmission, it is not possible to use
Otherwise, this device is worth the money and will come in handy many times to reduce the impression on home or in the company of friends.
On one rechargeable battery, the mask works for a very long time. I used it for 1.5 hours without taking it off and discharged only 15%. Its only drawback is a rather small viewing angle, because the eye slits are very narrow. But on the other hand, they are practically invisible, so others have the complete impression that the mask is your face.
In the end, I am very pleased with the purchase and the accessory as a simple but effective accessory for all holidays. The issue price is 2235 rubles, and this mask works out every penny.
