Video conferencing application zoom – which has become extremely popular during the coronavirus pandemic – will be available and available soon directly from the Tesla vehicle dashboard🇧🇷 The news was revealed by the company behind Zoom during the Zoomtopia 2022 event.
The Zoom announcement about Tesla cars was accompanied by a video showing how in-car searches would work. The car used in the presentation is a Model Y, but the video conferencing app will reportedly come to “all new Tesla models in the near future.”
We didn’t have a lot of details on how Zoom works in cars. You can imagine from the video that the app uses the main camera on the rear view mirror to transmit the user’s image. It is also emphasized how the girl filled the car during the interview, possibly to make it clear that the lectures should be held with the car stopped.
Questions about the plan and privacy
There are still some doubts about the Zoom function in Tesla. Aside from not knowing a specific date for the service’s arrival, it’s also not been revealed whether the app will only connect over Wi-Fi or whether it will also be compatible with Tesla’s internet plan, called Premium Connection. The plan costs $10 per month and can make it possible to connect for calls.
Another question raised by The Verge staff relates to drivers’ privacy. In the rear view mirror of the vehicle, the camera facing the driver was placed in order to monitor the driver’s attention when the “autopilot” is on. This solution has clearly raised concerns about people’s privacy, which should be further heightened by Tesla’s offering of camera access to third-party apps.
