The study included 73 elderly people. Before working, they led a sedentary lifestyle. Volunteers aged 60 to 80 then began brisk walking and jogging or stretching and toning exercises. The intensity of the exercise was gradually increased from three sessions per week to 25-30 minutes per week, to four to five sessions per week.

A year later, these volunteers had improved blood flow to the brain, increased oxygen levels and reduced pressure in the vessels of the brain as well as the carotid artery.
