It often happens that a person enters the salon and needs a regular “working device” on Android at a high price. He beat off every penny.
And this is where Tecno Mobile comes in. Today I got Tecno POVA Neo 2 in my hands, and I can definitely confirm that it works out every ruble invested in it. The novelty is quite budgetary, but it offers the capabilities of smartphones from the middle price segment.
About everything in order.
The set was a pleasant surprise.
Unlike Apple, Chinese manufacturers are only too happy to flood their customers with free goodies. And in this case there are no exceptions.
The smartphone comes with 18W fast charging in the box. Far from the most powerful and, as for me, not very suitable for this device, but more on that below.
The package also contains a variety of charging devices, a simple silicone cable. cover, protective glass and documentation. Separately, I note that the glass is not glued to smart from the factory, and personally I consider this a plus. Not everyone wraps up their gadgets to love the virgin look.
Tecno Future, that this gadget is not only guaranteed for 1 year, but also bonus month. A trifle, but nice.
As for the cover, it makes it as easy to use as possible: flimsy and not particularly tight. We will, honestly, complete with a budget smartphone and do not expect. There is basic protection, the sides are just above the display – like it.
Design. Mirror plastic looks original
Tecno is doing its best to stand out from the countless Chinese. And, in my opinion, she does it very well.
The Tecno POVA Neo 2 uses a plastic case with a polished back panel. Due to this, the remnants of specularity disappear, sometimes resembling glass.
Catch life hack on the go: The front camera in the smartphone is rather weak, but you can take a selfie on the camera camera. You will catch the reflection on the lid, how you look in the frame.
As for the surface itself, it is glossy. Therefore, this very thin body. Absolutely all touches look on themselves, which in 5 minutes will look terrible. Fortunately, there is a case included in the kit, which saves in such cases.
The smartphone itself is enough large and suitable for lovers of large devices. I, alas, do not belong to this. Although I was quite comfortable using it.
Dimensions: 170.86 × 77.79 × 9.63 mm. There are even more iPhone 14 Pro Max. Weighs a little for such sizes – 233 grams. And due to this, it is felt in the palm of your hand.
Display. 90Hz but no AMOLED
I think the lack of AMOLED in the collections for many is a plus than a minus.
6.82 inch IPS panel with years of experience. Many owners of OLED devices complain that the improvement in flicker is on contrast. There are no such problems here. Although we do not have a colorful OLED, there is no sharp contrast of cheap TFTs here.
All are painted normally, there is no “jelly” effect and sores of more advanced screens are obtained.
Peak Brightness 480 nits. For a wide time of the year, it is enough with a margin, nothing interferes with viewing content or reading. Even in not very bright sun. But here in the summer a few flaws gathered with this.
The main feature of the screen in Neo 2 is the support refresh rate 90 Hz. After the iPhone 13/14 Pro, it’s already painful for me to look at 60 Hz “braking” displays. Smoothness plays an important role, scrolling through the same articles looks very nice. Yes, and in games it is also nice to see.
What’s under the hood?
In Tecno POVA Neo 2, we are met by a budget gaming processor MediaTek Helio G85. It is highly energy efficient.
This is a 12nm chip introduced 2 years ago. And, you know, he achieved with all the tasks assigned to it perfectly even after so much time.
Together with a good “stone”, the manufacturer installed 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory in the device. There is also a 4/64 GB version for mere pennies. There is microSD support. By the way, 5 GB from the built-in storage goes into the RAM, which allows you to increase the power of your smartphone.
The device is running Android 12 with proprietary shell HiOS 12.0.0. I can’t get all the animations to work flawlessly, sometimes microfreezes come out. In general, such a device is comfortable to use. Especially with a modest budget – for him this is even an excellent result.
Corporate security also has its advantages. For example, there are additional gestures to control your smartphone, you can clone some applications, translate text, and much more. There are plenty of own “features” here.
16 MP camera shoots fine
Check-in with a sky device is not enough, but it is understandable. Nobody expects a camera from a smartphone up to 15 thousand rubles.
Don’t be fooled by the appearance of the camera block. she is here alone at 16 MP (f / 1.8) with autofocus. Also, in conjunction with it, a frequency sensor works to create portraits.
If necessary, the camera can activate shooting in HDR mode.
In general, the quality for a cheap smartphone is normal. At night, it is better not to shoot him, otherwise you will get porridge. But during the day it gives good results (again, for its price segment), the main thing is to keep the devices straight.
The battery is just gay
The highest advantage of Tecno POVA Neo 2 can be safely called built-in leather.
It has a gigantic 7000 mAh battery. This is rarely seen in nature in any price range for smartphones.
In a survey with an energy-efficient processor and not the most demanding, I received about 2 weeks of testing 3-3.5 days of battery life with moderate collection. And here it is worth returning to the complete charging, which I spoke about earlier.
18 W is frankly not enough for a smartphone, it takes almost 2 hours to charge. On the other hand, in a conditional 3 days, charge smartphones only 1 time. So it might not be a big problem.
I also tested with a 45-watt power supply, and here the results are 2 times better. I charged the gadget in just an hour. For such a large battery, this is an excellent result.
And little things
What I didn’t mention earlier:

It works VERY long, has good performance margins and consumes surprisingly adequately. For its price, this is an acceptable annual device.
