The American company Nike will open a store and a platform for virtual sneakers, writes Bloomberg. .Swoosh will be the main platform to integrate the manufacturer into the metaverse.
The company recently made around $200 million from NFTs, beating out one of its main competitors, Adidas.
Continuing its investment in the metaverse, Nike will feature its merchandise on the .Swoosh platform for users to collect virtual models of the brand. The company plans to open up access to offline products, as well as integrate digital elements into video games.
The manufacturer will show the first virtual collection in .Swoosh in January. According to the head of Nike Virtual Studios, Ron Faris, the project is now in the testing phase. In the near future, an analysis of user behavior with a new digital product will be carried out.
Some athletes who partner with Nike will get their own storefronts on the platform. In addition, the company does not exclude the participation of external designers to work on digital collections.
Late last year, the maker acquired NFT studio RTFKT, which creates collectibles for the metaverse. The agreement was aimed at accelerating the company’s digital transformation. A few months later, the first virtual Nike shoes, developed in collaboration with RTFKT, were introduced.
