As you know, some time ago the company was actively working on a new Xbox model (not exactly known) that was supposed to provide access to Cloud Gaming by connecting to modern TVs via a USB or HDMI port.

However, something went wrong and Redmonds either froze or completely canceled the idea of developing such a device. Finally, Phil Spencer, president of Microsoft Gaming, talked about some of the reasons for what happened.

According to him, the main reason is the cost of equipment. The Xbox Keystone (codename for the console) was supposed to cost between $99 and $129. On the one hand, it is cheap. However, it should be noted that this price does not include the controller price.

Ultimately, Microsoft decided to go the other way and started launching Xbox Cloud Gaming as an app directly on smart TVs. According to Spencer, this has made Xbox games much more accessible.
