The innovation is produced according to the standards of the 4 nanometer process technology. The most productive core of the chip, Cortex-X3, operates at a frequency of 3.2 GHz. Four more cores run at 2.8 GHz and three at 2.0 GHz, which is energy efficient.
According to Qualcomm representatives, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 shows a 40% increase in CPU performance and a 25% increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation.
The new SoC supports the latest LPDDR5x-4200 RAM as well as UFS 4.0 formatted drives. The chip can work with QHD+ / 144 Hz and 4K UHD / 60 Hz displays, as well as play 8K video at 60 frames per second.
The first processor-based smartphones are expected to be released in the coming weeks. For example, according to insider information, Xiaomi may announce the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-based flagship Xiaomi 13 as early as late November – early December.
