The Russian team Outsiders (formerly Virtus.pro) won the CS:GO World Championship, while the Russian athletes defeated the Danish team Heroic in the final with a score of 2:0. Due to the sanctions, the players played under a neutral flag.

Russian esports won the CS:GO World Championship

The IEM Rio Major 2022 tournament was held in Rio de Janeiro from October 31 to November 13. The prize pool was $1.25 million, with the winners receiving $500,000 and the second-place team from Denmark receiving $170,000.

The Outsiders included: David n0rb3r7 Danielyan, Petr fame Bolyshev, Evgeny FL1T Lebedev, Jami Jame Ali and Kazakhstan’s Aleksey Qikert Golubev. The players were trained by coach Dastan dastan Akbaev (Kazakhstan).

The victory also allowed Russian athletes access to the following BLAST Premier competitions: World Final 2022 and IEM Katowice 2023.
