HE What’s up? seems to be working to finally bring desktop security feature which has been available in mobile version for a while: a lock with password on app screen🇧🇷 Solution for beta version of WhatsApp on PC and Mac will come soon.

Beta updates are made during the testing phase and reach users who have signed up to receive unconfirmed features first. But in most cases, beta-tested news doesn’t take long to reach all users, so the extra layer of WhatsApp security for computers isn’t far away.

As shown in the image above taken from a Mac, when the feature is enabled, the WhatsApp app will not load its normal screen and images as soon as it opens. Instead, we have a screen with almost nothing, just space for the user to enter the password.

One-time passcode and Touch ID support

The password is saved locally; this means the app is exclusive to the desktop version. That is, you can even record the same from mobile, but they are not synchronized or linked.

It is also interesting to know that the WhatsApp password on the desktop cannot be recovered. In case of forgetting, it is necessary to exit the program and log in again, and have the QR Code read via the mobile phone application, as we did the first time we use it on the computer. After completing the process, just save a new password.

Another piece of information to note is that users of Mac computers with a fingerprint reader can register Touch ID instead of a password to access the WhatsApp desktop.

We still don’t have a release window for the feature to come to the beta version of the app.
