Ralph Appelbaum Associates completed the installation of the original Lift 109, which was located inside the giant chimney of an old coal-fired power plant. In its almost ancient history, Battersea Power Station, which became the owner of a brick building in Europe, has become one of the most striking sights in London. Sorting in cVES

The idea of an elevator inside the chimney is a reference to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the name comes from the height of the original building – 109 m. The reconstruction of the chimney used original technologies of the last century – in particular, 25,000 wheelbarrows of hand-poured concrete and 375 kg of paint were spent . A fully transparent cabin with a panoramic view allows the engineering innards of the chimney as it rises, and at the top of the observed, first of all, a view of London awaits – tourists have not yet been allowed here.

The rest of the power plant has been reconstructed to tell the story of the place with installations, interactive objects and original exhibits. And also about how the energy industry developed in London and throughout Britain in the past century, what difficulties the engineers of the past faced and what victories they lost. The museum expects to receive the first visitors, the ticket price is about 19 dollars.
