The head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev said that in 2023 large venture funds may appear in the IT field in Russia. Its creation, according to the minister, will be dedicated to industrial companies.
Speaking at the TAdviser Summit, Shadayev noted that companies and customers are recovering from the stress caused by the economic crisis and are showing increasing interest in investing in IT projects.
“I expect that next year we will see several large private venture funds and created by large industrial companies. And it seems to me that it will be in cooperation … well, at least I know of several such projects. The companies even agree among themselves to unite to create said funds”, said the head of the department, quoted by Interfax.
These funds are expected to focus on seed investments, which will accelerate the substitution of foreign products. The Minister also acknowledged that the state does not have experience of successful participation in risky investments.
In addition, Shadayev clarified, the Ministry of Digital Development is interested in simplifying the procedure for companies to list on the Moscow Stock Exchange and is now doing relevant work together with the Central Bank.
According to him, at present, some Russian IT industry organizations are preparing to hold an IPO, in which they are assisted by the Ministry of Digital Development and the Central Bank.
