According to the doctor, the teeth should be brushed twice a day. Violations of the regime, although sometimes acceptable, are highly undesirable.

The doctor noted that in the oral cavity there are many bacteria involved in the digestive process. Within 6-8 hours, the teeth are covered with plaque consisting of bacteria that feed on carbohydrates and secrete acids. And if you miss this moment, the acid will erode the enamel: the contact layer will separate. A white spot forms on the tooth surface. As a result, the calcium layer of the tooth enamel is destroyed and caries begins at the white spot stage.

At the same time, at the stage of white spots, enamel can be restored with the help of gels containing calcium.

But cavities alone can’t become a problem: If you skip brushing your teeth regularly from plaque, tartar builds up. And these are already more serious consequences for teeth compared to ordinary plaques. Tartar is inhabited by pathogens that can cause gingivitis, its stagnation and loss, caries at the stage of destruction of hard tissues and even duodenal ulcers.

“Plaque that is not cleared within 12-24 hours becomes mineralized as saliva promotes the calcification of bacteria. This is clearly visible from the inside of the lower jaw, from canine to canine – on the six front teeth. Since the salivary ducts are close in this region, tartar formation occurs more. Bacteria become compact and form calcifications. They can only be removed by a dental hygienist after a special procedure,” the orthodontist warned.

News cannot be equated with a doctor’s prescription. Consult an expert before making a decision.
