In 2022, the demand for travel to Thailand, India and Sri Lanka has doubled, exceeding pre-pandemic levels. The popularity of destinations is influenced by the spread of remote work and the availability of travel to Asia.

The Russians began to fly twice as often to Thailand, India and Sri Lanka.

A significant part of the Russians’ reserves falls from November 1 to March 31, 2023 for three weeks or more. In 2021, the duration of the reserves was half that of this year: 5%, in the year before the 2019 pandemic: 4%, Kommersant writes.

Thailand is the most popular destination this year. This may be partly due to the relatively cheap travel budget. On average, according to Ostrovok.ru, Russians pay 4,000 rubles a day for accommodation in this country. For comparison: in the Maldives, a similar budget is 21 thousand rubles per day, in Cambodia – 6.4 thousand rubles, in Sri Lanka – 5.4 thousand rubles.

In September, one fifth of the participants (20%) of the SuperJob study would like to take a vacation in St. Petersburg next year. Women chose this direction much more often than men: 24% vs. 15%.

Other cities where Russians don’t mind relaxing are Moscow, Anapa, Veliky Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Volgograd, Gelendzhik, Yekaterinburg, Pyatigorsk, Murmansk and Kislovodsk.
