Elon Musk’s company Neuralink was suspected of cruelty to animals during tests, Reuters has found. An investigation is currently underway.

Federal investigation into Musk’s Neuralink launched – Reuters

Musk said last week that Neuralink is finalizing the technology to implant a special chip in the brain that enables hands-free use of devices. The businessman announced human trials in the next six months.

According to Reuters interlocutors, Neuralink is currently conducting experiments on experimental animals at an accelerated rate due to pressure from Musk. The tests are carried out in poor conditions, and often the animals themselves die as a result of the tests.

The agency reviewed company documents and spoke to its former employees. The information obtained indicates that the acceleration of development leads to failed experiments. In this sense, the company has to use more and more animals for tests.

According to Reuters estimates, around 1,500 animals, including 280 sheep, have died within Neuralink’s walls since 2018. Sources at the publication described these figures as approximate, as the company does not keep records of culled animals.
