Google Lens will replace Google Translate’s built-in camera. The news even predates the new AR Translation feature for LensIt was announced in September by the big tech that will leverage the technology behind Pixel’s Magic Eraser.
The last update of the translator camera happened 3 years ago in 2019. auto detect function and support more languages🇧🇷 The interface of the app was modernized for Android last year.
The lens allows you to identify objects and landmarks as well as copy real-world text. This last feature, together with the “Translate” filter, can overlay text in the detected language with translation. By downloading the language pack in advance, it will be possible to use it offline.
Now, tapping the camera in the Translator apps for both Android and iOS opens the Lens UI. The first has the feature in the system initialize, while the second has Lens built-in.

When using Translator via Lens, the user can access the “Translate” filter without switching to any other feature. At the top of the screen, you can manually change the language and even show the original text. Below you can import existing images on your mobile phone.
