Debra Lerner of Tufts University School of Medicine gave some tips on how to improve the quality of your work in the new year.
Try to find ways to identify or change old habits. This will allow you to work more efficiently.
Also, if you are stressed or unproductive at work, try to make some positive changes in your work habits. It is also important to understand that change itself is a process.
Identify a problem at work, then brainstorm and record any good ideas you find. Lerner also recommends writing handwritten or voicemail notes throughout the day exactly where you run into obstacles at work.
Don’t forget to transform your workspace. If you have trouble concentrating at work, consider white noise or noise canceling headphones. Or take small breaks to distract yourself and then quickly get to work.
If you find that a large project is having a hard time, breaking it up into smaller parts can help. You can also receive additional training.
If you are experiencing a loss of motivation, interest, low energy, or frustration, consider taking a short walk or snacking.
You can set a timer for a specific time to make it easier to focus on work. If you like surfing social networks, download apps that will block them.
Communicate with your colleagues whenever possible. Try to fit into the work culture. However, remember that communication doesn’t always have to be focused on a specific job task: sometimes informal conversations can also help you feel better.
Find out when your highest energy is. This will help you plan better with flexible working hours.
