1Password password manager chief security architect Jeffrey Goldberg revealed that LastPass, another popular password manager, can be cracked for as little as $100.
According to him, hackers were able to easily crack master passwords that were created by users, not computers. To do this, they use special software that costs an average of $100 and can guess the right password for less than $10 billion.
The LastPass vault is protected only by a master password, unlike 1Password, which also creates a secret key upon first set up. It requires valuable resources that are never found on the server, so even if you have a master password, it will be impossible to access 1Password for a lot of valuable data without a secret key.
Previously, LastPass reported another hack. Hackers gained access to master passwords and other data. The company claims that logins and passwords from the sites remained safe.
