McDonald’s aims to increase development speed by 2023. The company plans to cut costs by abandoning part of the plan and cutting staff.

McDonald’s will cut its corporate staff to increase the efficiency of the company

McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempchinski made the announcement in a letter to employees published by CNN.

“We will be evaluating roles and staffing in individual units of the organization, and we have difficult discussions and decisions ahead of us,” the message reads. Kempczynski specified that some projects “will be deprioritized or stopped entirely.”

The head of the American network is sure that the elimination of “internal barriers” will help the corporation to be “faster, more innovative and more efficient.” In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Kempczynski clarified that this means McDonald’s will cut staff.

“Some of the jobs that exist today may move or disappear,” said the corporation’s CEO. The company plans to announce its staffing plans by April 3.

The company expects to save as a result of the personnel changes, but Kempchinski does not yet have an exact amount that McDonald’s intends to free up through cuts, or a specific number of jobs.

According to the latest annual report, at the end of 2021, McDonald’s restaurants had about 200,000 corporate employees, 75% of whom work outside of the United States. More than 2 million people work in franchised branches of the network.
