The CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and Twitter, Elon Musk, became the first person in history to lose 200 billion dollars (this happened in one year and two months: as of November 2021). In total, for the outgoing 2022, the world’s ten most influential tech billionaires lost $575 billion.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s net worth fell to $137 billion after Tesla’s stock price plunged 11%, though it was estimated at $340 billion in November 2021.
Tesla’s shares fell in price first after Reuters announced the company’s intention to revise the production schedule at the Shanghai plant in January 2023 towards lower indicators.
Then the billionaire’s attempts to sell the automaker’s shares after the acquisition of Twitter for 44,000 million dollars influenced, so that their value fell by 65% and now they are not the businessman’s greatest asset.
After losing around $200 billion, Musk also lost the title of the world’s richest man: In December, it passed to Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) boss Bernard Arnault.
But not only the owner of Tesla lost his capital in this difficult year, recalls Business Insider.
The world’s ten richest tech billionaires lost a total of $575 billion in 2022 due to falling stocks, rising inflation and tightening rules in the digital advertising market.
