This Monday (9), Instagram has announced that it will make a new change on the home page of the application.. As Adam Mosseri, CEO of the social network, explained, the main change is in the shop button which will be removed (Shop/Shop)..

In a video posted on the network itself, Mosseri said: The main purpose of the change is to simplify navigation in the application.. With the removal of the Store button, the company will now bring the “Create” button, which is currently at the top of the app, to the bottom area.

This change should take effect in February. From there, the Instagram navigation buttons will have ‘Home’, ‘Search’, ‘Create’, ‘Reels’ and ‘Profile’ icons as shown in the image below.

Change was expected

“You’ll be able to continue to buy in Feed, Stories, Reels, and ads,” says the admin. The idea behind the change, he says, is “inspiring people to express themselves, helping people discover what they love, and connecting with people through what they find”.

Mosseri hasn’t announced a specific date for the update to go into effect, but it makes clear its intention to make Instagram a more “simple” space to navigate and create content.

In September 2022, the platform was already testing a new version of the app without a buy button. The Instagram layout with the “Store” button integrated into the bottom navigation bar became available in 2020, two years after the launch of the in-app purchase tools.
