The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine gives priority to the American F-16, although both the Swedish Gripen and the French Rafale are considered. But Ukraine does not have the money to buy the latter.
At the same time, Ukraine needs a large network of secure military airfields. They should be built in the near future, but according to estimates from the Royal Institute for Joint Security and Defense Research, this project is unlikely to be viable while the Russian NMD is being conducted in Ukraine.
According to Yuri Ignat, despite all predictions, secret bases are already being built in the country and civilian airports will be used for military purposes.
