For some IT specialists, the postponement of partial mobilization should be canceled, said State Duma deputy, a member of the Defense Ministry’s working group on mobilization issues, Dmitry Gusev.
According to the parliamentarian, scientists, engineers and IT staff could contribute to the Russian military by working in computers and laboratories.
“There are some specialists who belong to the reserve, who can serve in the army, but not necessarily at the front, for example, IT workers. Why give them a machine gun when it’s easier to give them a mouse? They can serve in the Cyber Troops. The same goes for scientists, biologists who can, with microscopes in their hands, create antidotes for biological weapons,” the deputy shared his vision of the situation with Ura.ru.
The parliamentarian believes that the department should change its personnel policy in relation to mobilized citizens.
According to Gusev, many physicists and engineers could perform the tasks of the RF Armed Forces. For this, it is necessary to organize a mobilization system by analogy with the management of human resources in large companies.
Oleg Matveychev, Chairman of the Duma Committee for Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, spoke about the formation of so-called cybertroops in the Russian Federation. According to him, in the country “a large number” of IT specialists remain unclaimed.
On September 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on partial mobilization in the country. The Ministry of Digital Development has drawn up a list of IT specialties that allow you to get a reservation from the draft. At the end of October, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the mobilization had ended.
At the same time, the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, answering questions from journalists, noted that the decree of the head of state remains in force.
