Google has officially announced the launch of an artificial intelligence chatbot. The Bard project is based on the LaMDA language model.
An announcement of a new product appeared on the official Google blog, which should be the answer to the popular ChatGPT chat bot. The company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, describes Bard as “an experimental interface for talking to artificial intelligence.” A chatbot can respond to user requests and have a meaningful conversation with them.
According to Pichai, when generating responses, Bard will rely on information from the Internet; In theory, this could be a huge advantage compared to ChatGPT, which is trained on an outdated database and cannot provide users with up-to-date information on some topics. .
.
In the announcement, the project is described as a tool for creativity and a launching pad for exploring the world. As an example of a chatbot application, Bard helps explain the James Webb Space Telescope to a 9-year-old boy.
In a first stage, only a part of the users will be able to test the tool, but in the coming weeks Bard will be available to a greater number of people. Judging by the available screenshots of the interface, Bard will be integrated into the existing Google Assistant app.
In early February, Google’s parent company Alphabet reported disappointing fourth-quarter financial results. According to the report, Alphabet’s profit fell by more than a third. Bard is an attempt to remedy the situation by competing with the chatbot ChatGPT, which in just two months has become the fastest growing app ever.
