Users noticedthat the Samsung Galaxy S23 software takes up a catastrophic amount of space on the drive.
An operating system with a proprietary One UI shell and applications occupied almost 60 GB (that’s half the space in the 128GB model). By comparison, Windows 11 requires 32 GB.
Such a large volume is likely due to the fact that Samsung duplicates the built-in applications and services of Google. However, both of them cannot be deleted, since they are system ones.
It is noted that this size is mainly presented in models for the United States and parts of Europe. In other countries, the software takes up less than 40 GB.
If you meet with other manufacturers, then pure Android 13 on Pixel 7 takes 15 GB, the same amount for MIUI 14 on Xiaomi 13. [ArsTechnica]
