Paid returns allow Wildberries to offset return shipping costs to merchants, giving merchants the ability to charge competitive prices. So, the company commented on the request of the “Public Consumer Initiative” to Rospotrebnadzor to verify the legality of the paid return of goods.
“If the buyer rejects the goods, he still has to return it to the warehouse, logistics costs are inevitable. It turns out that the seller must either include these costs in the cost of the goods, thereby raising prices for all buyers, or separate them separately and encourage responsible buyers, ”he explained in Wildberries (quoted from TASS).
Earlier, the Izvestia newspaper reported that the public organization for the protection of consumer rights “Public Consumer Initiative” sent an appeal to Rospotrebnadzor with a request to verify the legality of the paid return of goods purchased on the Wildberries market if the Buyer rejects a quality product at the point of issue.
The market representative recalled that in 2021 the site launched a responsible purchasing program, according to which buyers with a high percentage of purchase orders do not pay for the return transportation of goods. This measure allowed the market to reduce the number of defective items by 30% in 2022 compared to 2021.
The company recalled that the return transportation of defective goods is free.
- Previously, Wildberries reported an increase in sales of regional sellers in 2022 – it amounted to 116% compared to 2021. The share of sales of entrepreneurs from Russian regions is already 88% in the total turnover of the site.
- At the end of January 2023, the marketplace announced a new scheme to cheat sellers. The scammers began contacting the vendors at Wildberries and offering to help increase sales. The attackers request access to a personal account and, upon receiving it, buy the assortment of the businessman at the lowest possible price. As a result, the latter lose money and property.
