An artificial intelligence-based service for ophthalmologists has been successfully tested in Russia. Retina.AI analyzes images of affected organs and skin areas and recognizes pathologies. This is the first program in Russia for automated segmentation of fundus pathologies.
The successful completion of clinical trials of Digital Vision Solutions’ Retina.AI cloud platform was announced by the press service of the Federal Research and Clinical Center of the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency.
Retina.AI aims to prevent blindness and low vision in people with diabetes and age-related retinal changes. The platform allows the analysis of fundus images and optical tomography. The doctor can connect to the platform remotely and evaluate the data obtained as a result of the processing.
Clinical trials, in which more than 300 images were used for analysis, proved that the work of Retina.AI is not inferior in effectiveness to similar solutions from the USA from IDX-DX and EyeNook. Regarding the analysis of fundus images, the accuracy was 95%, the sensitivity – 96%, the specificity – 91%.
