Good news for Twitter Blue followers. From today you can already publish tweets up to 4000 charactersthe largest limit that the social network has introduced in its history.
When Twitter took its first steps, posts could not exceed 140 characters. Later, during 2017, this limit rose to 280which for now remains in effect for anyone who has not yet subscribed to the aforementioned service.
However, with the arrival of Elon Musk, the social network considered setting a new limit: 4,000 characters, which is a significant increase from the previous figure. For what? Twitter has become one of the most important communication platforms on the Internet, which has led to some people need more than one post to tell the whole story.
Although streams were the “solution” to this problem, it was never the most intuitive way to consume information. In fact, some people have turned to third party tools to convert the thread into single text and make it easier to read.
Elon Musk and his managers became aware of the situation and decided to issue a proposal that would improve the experience. You can see for yourself what the first tweet over 240 characters looks like below.
There are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to tweets that are 4,000 characters long. This type of publication, at the moment, they cannot be saved as drafts and cannot be scheduled for a later post.
Will I be able to retweet or reply to a 4000 character tweet? No problem. The only thing that is limited to Twitter Blue is posting the same thing. While only Blue subscribers can post longer tweets, everyone can read them. You can reply, retweet, and quote longer tweets, whether you’re a Twitter Blue subscriber or not. Subscribers will be able to reply and quote up to 4,000 characters,” they note.
However, it doesn’t make much sense that its use is exclusively for Twitter Blue subscribers, especially since most users haven’t joined the popular service yet. Actually, not yet available in many countries.
In Spain, just saw the light last week. You can subscribe by paying €8 per month (11 if you do it from the iOS or Android app) and get benefits such as editing a tweet up to 5 times within 30 minutes; upload videos with 1080p resolution; set NFT as your avatar and, of course, get the long-awaited blue verification badge. Of course, now we can add up tweets of 4000 characters.
