So far, the innovation is available in the beta version of the messenger on Android. However, it is not specified when the function will be available to all users, the WABetaInfo portal reported.

At the end of November 2022, WhatsApp experienced a major data breach, with more than 500 million user data put up for sale. Hackers obtained phone numbers linked to accounts, almost 10 million of them belonged to Russians.

WhatsApp at that time estimated the number of its users at 2 billion, that is, the data of a quarter of the users of the messenger was leaked to the network. The database includes information on users from 84 countries.

WhatsApp is owned by Meta, recognized as an extremist in the Russian Federation and included in the terrorist list.
