Experts from the furniture retailer Hoff have calculated how much Russians save on discounts. The fact that they are specifically waiting for promotions and sales in order to buy the desired product, half of the study participants admitted. Only 12% of those surveyed believe that discounts are a marketing strategy.

Hoff calculated how much Russians save on discounts

Hoff conducted a study based on the results of 2022. Most of the time, Russians bought at discounts:

  • food (52%);
  • clothing (44%);
  • home accessories (40%);
  • furniture (34%).

Nearly half of those surveyed enlist the help of discount search aggregators to find the right product at a discount. The majority of respondents (70%) find out about promotions at a store checkout or through a newsletter.

74% of respondents use discounts to save their budget, every second respondent consciously waits for the promotion period to buy the desired product. 12% of the study participants do not believe in the actions, considering them a marketing strategy.

By the end of 2022, thanks to discounts, 20% of respondents were able to save up to 500 rubles, up to 2,000 rubles – a third of respondents, up to 5,000 rubles – about a quarter of respondents.

Hoff conducted a survey among 1,300 Russians over the age of 18 from all cities in Russia.
