Google Photos users have encountered a nasty bug right after installing iOS 16.3.1 — the app crashes on opening.
All users of Google Photos faced the problem. It looks like the app is just not compatible with the new iOS.
Google hasn’t commented on this issue, but will most likely fix the bug soon.

Every once in a while, a random, very popular app just isn’t compatible with the latest iOS or Android update. Today, that app is Google Photos, which instantly crashes whenever I try to open it after installing iOS 16.3.1. Several other people at The Verge report the same. If this is not solvable on the backend, we hope that Google can quickly upload a fixed version to the App Store. After all, not everyone uses iCloud Photos.
