Kirill Sitnov, a professor at the Moscow School of Programmers, called RB.RU three signs of wiretapping. He also recommended that smartphone owners control the behavior of the device to prevent attackers from obtaining the data they need.
The term “wiretapping” today, according to the expert, should not be associated with the image that was held in the early 2000s.
“Listen” does not mean that the owner of the smartphone is monitored and listened to all his phone conversations. Now scammers are much more interested in Internet traffic and user activity on the network, Kirill Sitnov emphasized.
Three signs that speak of the “wiretapping” of the apparatus:
- The phone drains quickly or the battery overheats: Your smartphone may be running apps in the background that collect personal information. Even a voice recorder can be turned on, and most likely a smartphone will take pictures on the front or main camera.
- Delays when turning the screen on or off You can talk about strange activity in the software (SW). However, this can also indicate excessive congestion of the device.
- Constant background noise during calls can also indicate listening. The expert was quick to add that this type of “wiretapping” may be on legal software. Since many companies, who develop free software, can only earn from ad targeting.
In December, the Roskomnadzor SRC launched a unified platform for phone call verification (EPVV) “Antifraud”. The system is needed to combat phone scammers.
Now MegaFon, MTS and VimpelCom are connected to the platform. The representatives of the structure did not disclose the connection price and the cost of development.
