KAMAZ will launch unmanned commercial cargo transportation along the M11 Neva highway in June

The start of commercial transportation on KAMAZ unmanned trucks was announced by Mikhail Matasov, Deputy General Director of the company.

Transportation along the M11 Neva highway between Moscow and St. Petersburg will begin in June 2023. In a first stage, they will be carried out by five unmanned trucks. The operator will be in the front passenger seat.

Transport without an operator in the cabin will begin in 2025, KAMAZ plans. By that time, they should complete the highway bypass around Tver, so that when traveling on the M11, it would not be necessary to go out onto third-party roads. Then the entire route along the highway can be passed in unmanned mode, they say in KAMAZ.

KAMAZ has already assembled two of the five unmanned trucks that will carry out the transport. By 2024, the company plans to produce up to 50 such trucks.

KAMAZ began testing unmanned trucks on the M11 Neva at the end of January.
