The head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev said that the department has developed a format that allows replacing a paper document in 80% of everyday situations.

Shadayev noted that he asks for the original document, for example, at the entrance to various institutions. This is not always justified, so it is easier to show the QR code on a smartphone.

The technology that we have developed works very simply: a photo is loaded onto a smartphone from a biometric passport, then you are asked for a QR code that you present. The QR code also includes either your age or your full name.

The minister also noted that the technology has already been fully coordinated with the FSB. At the same time, you still need to have an added paper passport, and thus there will be a choice of which document to supply.

Russian President Vladimir Putin supported the idea and increased its weight. [Российская Газета]
