Cubic Media, a Russian manufacturer of music and visual business solutions, has developed “sound control” technology that, using special algorithms and a neural network, allows stores to monitor compliance with the rules for the use of music with license and audit audio advertising. This was reported to RB.RU by a Cubic Media representative.

Russian Cubic Media has developed a neural network for “sound control” in stores

Algorithms and a neural network determine the correspondence of the musical sequence with a previously agreed playlist for a particular point and the volume of the music in the room.

If violations are detected, the system will notify the client about the problem on the air by mail, in the personal account of the music service or in the messenger. Large customers will be able to integrate the notification system via API.

Cubic Media has also incorporated an audio ad monitoring feature to help ensure that an ad campaign plays at the agreed amount and at specific outlets.

The developers claim that there is no comparable technology in terms of functionality either on the Russian or on the Western market.

Why control the sound

Cubic Media explained that a problem is common in retail when the staff of network outlets do not comply with the rules for the use of musical content (violate the volume of background music, replace licensed music and especially selected for the mark with arbitrary music, etc.).

Such violations may result in fines for the business. So, when switching the musical content to arbitrary control organizations (the Society of Russian Authors and the All-Russian Intellectual Property Organization) they can impose a fine of up to 5 million rubles on the company (Article 1301 of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation Russian). ).

In addition, retailing carries marketing and image risks, as background music for businesses is selected to build customer loyalty and build brand awareness. In reality, its genre may change to an unacceptable mark, for example, if chanson is played instead of jazz, where profanity may appear. The sound volume may be lower or the music will not play at all in some of the chain stores.
