The study, titled “ChatGPT: Five Research Priorities,” warns that “the use of chatbots for private research is likely to lead to inaccuracy, bias, and plagiarism.”
At the same time, the experts warned their colleagues, saying that researchers using these technologies “risk of being misled by inaccurate or biased information and incorporating it into their reasoning and work.”
The study’s authors believe that the development and implementation of open-source AI technologies should be a priority. Primarily to counter the opacity of existing technologies, which are mostly proprietary products of big tech companies.
