Apple began massively terminating contracts with freelancers. Unlike other large corporations, Apple has refrained from cutting staff, but is now laying off employees and not refusing to renew contracts with them.
The New York Post, citing sources, writes about the start of a campaign to reduce the freelance workforce at Apple.
Apple is laying off employees who are not officially part of the company’s staff, but who work on various projects alongside full-time employees. We are talking about thousands of people who are dedicated to the development of new products, project management, presentations.
Sources of the publication specify that people are fired before the contract expires, and they do not refuse to renew it with them, as is customary in this type of corporation.
In 2022, companies in the big-tech field laid off a total of more than 150,000 employees, experts estimated. Massive layoffs occurred at Microsoft, Alphabet, Twitter, and other large corporations.
