The Bank of Russia announced the start date for testing the digital ruble on individuals. The pilot project will begin on April 1; 13 banks have already confirmed their technical readiness to carry out operations.
Olga Skorobogatova, Vice President of the Bank of Russia, announced the start of tests of the digital ruble on real clients.
The central bank plans to launch the pilot stage of the test project on April 1. Transfers will be made between individuals and payments in trade and service companies.
13 banks expressed their technical readiness to participate in the digital ruble test. In the first stage, the number of transactions and customers will be limited.
According to the plan of the Bank of Russia, the digital ruble will become a new form of currency and will serve as a means of payment, a measure of value and a store of value.
The Central Bank conducted the first tests of the digital ruble in February 2022. In April, the regulator announced that in 2023 it would begin real transactions with the digital ruble.
