The new tool will allow any Roblox player to create objects such as buildings, terrain and avatars using a regular language (most likely English), change their appearance and behavior, and give them new interactive features.
“Let’s say I want a shiny metal sword,” says Roblox CTO Daniel Sturman. “It should be very easy to create.”
In the demo, typing “purple foil, crumpled pattern, reflective” in the chat window can change the look of a sports car in the game, for example. Currently, the company trains its AI only on game content that is in the public domain.
Sturman says this approach holds promise for Roblox, as most of the games on their platform are made by individuals or small teams. “Our platform has everything from studios to 12-year-olds with amazing ideas at summer camp.”
