The car’s battery easily powered the refrigerator, lights, and other critical appliances. While the rest of the neighborhood was plunged into darkness, Graham’s family life remained largely unchanged.

Generally speaking, Graham powers his tools mostly from rooftop solar panels and now arms himself with his Chevy Bolt. It reduced the monthly electricity bill from about $220 to $8.

The publication writes that Graham’s car was able to run household appliances for three days.
