Brazilian company receives patent for air travel stress management system

Embraer received a patent for an innovative system to deal with stress during air travel, writes The Verge. The publication clarifies that the patent application was filed in 2016 and Embraer received the patent in 2022.

The system consists of a camera that, using special algorithms, analyzes facial expressions to determine if a person has feelings of stress, fear or discomfort. If these feelings appear, the device affects the brain with magnetic or current stimulation.

Such brain stimulation is widely used as a treatment for depression, so Embraer may find it difficult to apply its technology due to its extensive market presence, the publication notes.
