CNBC reports that the new policy will apply to Google Cloud’s largest US operations in Kirkland, New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Sunnyvale.
And no, thankfully, the new app doesn’t mean Googlers will sit shoulder to shoulder. They will alternate between using the same workspace. Employees will have to collaborate with a co-worker and set the rules for sharing the workplace themselves. The document says that if an employee does not comply with his schedule, he may be out of work. In this case, he will have to work in a “crowded room”.
