Twitter laid off at least 50 employees on Saturday in another round of layoffs. This time, the company parted ways with the engineering teams.

The information: Twitter laid off at least 50 employees in one day to cut costs

This information is provided by The Information with reference to informed sources. The layoffs reportedly affected dozens of engineers who worked in the advertising departments, with the Twitter mobile app, and were involved in maintaining the platform’s technical infrastructure.

The reason for the personnel changes is to compensate for the drop in revenue from the platform. According to the publication, after the arrival of Elon Musk, the Twitter status was reduced by at least 70%, to 2 thousand people.

According to The Information, the current wave of layoffs is the eighth since the purchase of the social network by an American billionaire. Despite the break announced by the Twitter headline, personnel changes resumed in February: dozens of engineers and sales personnel lost their jobs.

Last November, Elon Musk said that Twitter was facing a sharp drop in ad revenue. The businessman explained this by pressure from human rights activists on major advertisers.
