In 2022, iPhone imports from India to Russia have doubled to 165,000 devices. However, this amounted to only 2.2% of total imports. At the same time, the total supply of these smartphones was reduced by three times.

India’s iPhone shipments to Russia doubled in 2022

Apple’s deliveries to Russia in May-December 2022 compared to the same period a year earlier decreased from 3.2 million to 1.1 million units, Vedomosti calculated.

Market participants attribute the increase in the supply of devices from India to geopolitical reasons: Apple began to leave the United States at the request of the US government due to the trade war between countries, another reason to transfer orders to India was a series of lockdowns in China due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The main risk of buying “parallel” devices is the lack of guarantees, said Mikhail Burmistrov, director of Infoline Analytics. Retailers’ warranty service offers add significantly to the cost of equipment.

In addition, there are risks associated with the specificities of each country, which may worsen or completely eliminate the operation of the devices in Russia, he warned.
