It turned out that delivery services and retail chains were among the “best”, accounting for 34% and 14% of incidents, respectively. The report also states that a total of 168 major database leaks were recorded in 2022, resulting in the compromise of nearly 300 million user data and 48 million passwords.

Kaspersky Lab experts noted that most of the leaks were caused by cyberattacks against large businesses. They also expect data breaches to increase by 20% in 2023. Moreover, the retail sector will become a “special target”.

It is worth noting that as a result of the hacking, in addition to user data, information about employees such as job titles, email addresses, mobile phone numbers and financial data was also exposed.
