In 2022, the number of self-employed in Russia exceeded 6.5 million people. Most of these specialists are involved in education: 25%, in the creative industry (photographers, designers, etc.), 16%, souvenir sellers and manufacturers account for 12%, according to the YuKassa study, which RB .RU met. with.

In 2023, the number of self-employed will double and reach 10 million people

In the last six months, the most autonomous have increased in sales of children’s items and toys, digital goods (music, books, photo editing software, instructions and guides). During this time the number of photographers, designers, tutors and other freelancers has grown.

During the reporting period, the self-employed in the field of construction and design received the largest amount – on average, a little more than 5 thousand rubles. This is 60% more than in the same period of the previous year, the study notes.

The average check also increased among the self-employed in the furniture industry, by almost 50%, to 4.4 thousand rubles. Slightly less growth for hairdressers and employees of beauty salons – by 47% – up to 1054 rubles, financial consultants – by 46% – up to 4.6 thousand rubles, as well as manufacturers and consultants of cosmetics – by 42% – up 2, 9 thousand rubles.

The self-employed have become less likely to pay with bank cards, while the number of payments via SberPay or using a QR code has increased, says the study.

The number of payments to the self-employed through the YuKassa service increased by 19% compared to the same period of the previous year. Billing from own account payments increased by an average of 3% and the number of purchases by 24%.

By 2023, the number of self-employed workers may nearly double, to 10 million people, YuKassa analysts forecast. According to Podrabotka, for companies, the main factor for finding independent specialists is their professional skills (67%). Many companies also value the preparation of the self-employed to carry out services in the near future (51%) and their work experience (42%).
