Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk began looking for a team to create a chatbot competitor ChatGPT, writes Reuters. To implement his plans, the businessman hired Igor Babushkin, who recently left the DeepMind AI division at Alphabet.
ChatGPT is an OpenAI multitasking chatbot, the product launch caused a lot of hype and ethical disputes. In just a few months, the chatbot managed to write many theses, “speak” in court, and pass the US medical license exam.
OpenAI, in which Microsoft decided to invest several billion dollars after the success of its chatbot, was founded in 2015 by Elon Musk and Sam Altman. In 2018, Musk resigned from the company’s board of directors.
According to Reuters, the businessman discussed with Babushkin the formation of a team for development in the field of AI and the creation of a research laboratory. Now the project is in an initial stage, without previous agreements. It is noted that Babushkin has not officially signed off on Musk’s initiative.
