iFood. The largest food delivery app in Brazil is experiencing instability early this Friday (03), just two days after it announced the layoffs of more than 355 employees, representing 6.4% of the company’s 5,500 professional staff. Many of the layoffs were part of the company’s technology sector.

Around 6 pm, a series of complaints began to be registered on the DownDetector website. More than 5,000 notifications were reported in less than an hour. Most of the reported issues (86%) are related to the mobile app. However, users also reported difficulties accessing the iFood website and completing their purchases.

At the time of this article’s publication, the practice seems to be already normalizing for some people.

Social media has also noticed that the distribution platform has been taken down. Twitter user @cheidielle joked about the situation and even decided that the app would “die”. “RIP ifood. I’ll have to call the pizzeria like Australopithecus did,” he tweeted.
